Snap Photography Festival

When I first read about the details of this amazing photography festival my pulse raced with excitement and I immediately knew I wanted to go, nay needed to go. BUT my little heart sank back into reality when I saw the ticket price and accepted the truth that it was far far out of my financial reach...

So imagine how insanely happy and optimistic I became when I saw that there was a chance to win a place, and all I had to do was to create something that expressed why I deserved to win that place (so hard)

After much thought, some bizarre, abstract and frankly weird ideas I decided on something simple and honest... I don't know if I really do deserve that place but maybe you guys will think I do. And I can tell you there's more than just one snap teacher that I'd be stoked about meeting and learning from...

India Hobson - a Sheffield home-girl; an early inspiration for me in my burgeoning career and a master of simplicity. I'd love to learn about her career path into the editorial and her collaborations with artists and artisans

Emma & Pete - Emma of course, like most contemporary wedding photographers, has had a huge inspirational impact on me. I adore the honesty in her images, the everyday beautiful.

Andy Gaines - For one his images really are truly awesome and his eye for a shot is, well I don't actually have a word for it...

As a self taught photographer I've never really had the opportunity to mingle with other photographers, develop working relationships, and bounce ideas around.  At University studying fine art, when my medium was oil paint, a community of creative peers had a huge influence on my drive to create work and develop my skill.
I'd love to become part of a photographic community and I think that's what Snap offers (so much more than your average festival). I believe that being surrounded by creativity is essential, to be immersed in a creative environment is intensely invigorating for anyone's practice...

So, enough waffling, here's my entry which has been posted to Laura, the brains behind Snap

If you'd like to read more about my fundraising I keep a separate blog, all about it

  1. Oh my goodness I love this, it gets my vote. Your work is great, and as an adopter (and former fosterer) of a rescue dog, I love this project. I really hope you win.
